Playlist of the Week

mercury prize nominees 2016

It’s that time of the year again! The Mercury Prize 2016 nominees have just been announced and naturally we’ve been playing all the albums here in the studio.

Our favourites include the above – Radiohead (who have earned their record-breaking fifth nomination), Michael Kiwanuka and Savages who we’ve seen perform live, previous winner Anohni and David Bowie’s final album which is tipped as favourite to win.

We love them all equally in different ways so it will truly be a tough one!

Playlist of the Week

We like to consider ourselves as big music fans here in the Tuppence Collective studio, although too often we end up listening to the same old albums and playlists. When we heard the nominations for this years BBC Mercury Music awards we decided to use this as an excuse to introduce some new bands, artists and even genres into our I-tunes library.

Our favourite picks from this years awards include an eclectic mish-mash of punk, pop and experimental sounds (which we’re not even sure how to define) but its safe to say we’ve got every mood and vibe covered with this lot.

If we had to pick we would definitely recommend ‘Slaves’ and ‘Benjamin Clementine’ as the most surprising and refreshing albums of the year. Well worth a listen!
